Russia-Ukraine conflict: The United States accuses Russia of planning aggressive acts
According to a US
source, Russia is planning "provocative steps" to establish a
justification to attack Ukraine.
A Pentagon
spokeswoman for Russia's Pentagon stated in a statement that Russia was
planning to undertake a "False Flag" operation in Ukraine to accuse
Kyiv of staging an invasion, but Russia disputed the charges. The claims come
only a week after negotiations between the US and Russia defused tensions. Ukraine
accused Russia on Friday of assisting in cyberattacks on dozens of government
websites. Before the web pages were taken down, a message emerged advising
Ukrainians to "be prepared for the worst." However, most sites'
access was restored within hours.
The US and NATO have
both denounced the attack and promised Ukraine support. Russia has yet to respond
to the cyberattack.
According to a
Pentagon spokesman, all of this is part of Russia's intentions. Russia has
already dispatched a team of operators in what is known as a "false
flag" operation. According to US sources, the agents were taught in civilian
warfare techniques as well as the use of explosives in sabotage operations
against pro-Russian rebels.
Similar actions are
planned against Russian forces stationed in the Transnistrian region, which has
seceded from Moldova, according to Ukraine's Defense Ministry. The claims were
unsubstantiated, according to a Kremlin spokeswoman. That doesn't mean anything
is confirmed.

America's bold move
It is not rare for
the US to provide such precise intelligence pledges, but the Biden
administration has actively blocked any Russian militant claims against Ukraine
by disclosing its purported sabotage and propaganda activities. has made a
decision
According to a
Pentagon spokesperson, the US wanted the world to know how to play an
aggressive game since the scenario came from the same playbook that the
Russians employed in Crimea. It is a significant step following a week of
intense diplomacy in which offers were made but no consensus on how to settle
the problem was achieved.

spokesperson, the government still believes there is time and scope for
dialogue and that President Vladimir Putin has not taken a final decision to

tens of large numbers of troops on its borderline with Ukraine, as well as a
large arsenal of weaponry, heightening concerns about an assault. For the last
week, US and Russian officials have been working to defuse tensions over
Ukraine, but no compromise appears to have been achieved. Russia rejects plans
to attack Ukraine but seeks assurances against NATO's eastward expansion, which

priority.

House Press Secretary, there is no definitive agreement on diplomatic
negotiations at the time, but the US is trying and is hopeful.
British Foreign
Secretary Liz Truss has said she welcomes Moscow's willingness to negotiate in
January but warned that the Russian attack would be met with sanctions on the
Russian economy.
Despite rising
tensions along Ukraine's border, there is hope for the eastern part of the
country, where Russian-backed separatists have been fighting the Ukrainian army
for the past seven years.
President Putin had
pointed out the "red lines" in the case of Ukraine several days ago
and when asked during his annual press conference if he could assure that there
would be no attack, he was enthusiastic. "We did not go to the boundaries
of the United Kingdom or the United States; they came to ours," he said. In
that session, he accused NATO of betraying Russia through five waves of
expansionism (in NATO) since the 1990s.

Analysis
There are very few
world leaders in the world who can hold a four-hour-long press conference. During
the four-hour session, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave some hints about
his intentions regarding Ukraine. At the press conference, he reiterated his
long-standing resentment over post-Soviet NATO expansion. He reiterated his
condemnation of the 2014 revolution in Ukraine and his criticism of Ukrainian
President Zelensky.
Vladimir Putin has
called for an "immediate" response from the United States to Russia's
security guarantees but also claimed that the United States had given
"positive" signals to Russia's proposals and that talks would begin
next month. Being optimistic about but consenting to negotiations does not mean that
there will be consensus in negotiations. Negotiations do not mean that Moscow
will rule out a military option.
Official fighting
ended in 2015, but clashes have been frequent. The ceasefire in July 2020 was
intended to reduce violence, but there has been a recent increase in ceasefire
violations.
Both countries and
the Russian-backed rebels agreed to implement the ceasefire on behalf of the
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The purpose of this
organization was to prevent conflicts and to deal with crises. It also has a
monitoring mission in eastern Ukraine.
The group's
ambassador, Miko Canonin, described the agreement as "particularly
significant" because his organization had recorded five times more
ceasefire violations in December than in December last year.
