According to the document, the directory has been compiled on the basis of tax returns submitted manually and electronically till January 3. The document states that the data only includes income and taxes disclosed in the returns submitted to the FBR, but does not include agricultural income tax, sales tax, federal excise duty, etc., paid to the provinces. Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen said in this regard that FBR has been publishing the directory for the last six years but this time special efforts were made to make the directory more informative.

The Federal Minister further said that this is an important step towards transparency. This will bring transparency to the entire tax system.

In the next 6 years, tax collection will have to increase to 20% of GDP, says Shaukat Tareen

Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the tax directory said that besides trying to bring transparency in the tax system, steps are also being taken to facilitate collection. He said that there is a lot of complexity and ambiguity in our tax system, some taxes are levied by the provinces, some taxes are levied by the FBR. Should be, there should be no other taxes.

He said that we have to create a tax culture, tax has a very important role in the development of society, every citizen should pay tax. We have not followed the principle that everyone has to pay taxes. That is why the problems increase, the current account is in deficit, we cannot even meet our expenses, then we have to borrow more.

The Federal Minister said that we do not want to harass anyone but want to collect taxes in a transparent manner. We are collecting data to improve tax collection. We will collect taxes according to the statistics. People pay taxes. " We have the names of one and a half crore people who should pay taxes, which we will collect. As the tax net grows, we will reduce the tax rate," he said.

Shaukat Tareen said that for sustainable development and economic growth of the country, tax collection at the rate of GDP would have to be increased to 20% in the next six years.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Farrukh Habib, the Minister of State for Information, accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) of concealing many bank accounts.

According to the news, while talking to the media outside the Election Commission, Farrukh Habib said that the examination of financial documents of both the parties has revealed that PML-N has 9 and PPP has 11 secret bank accounts.

Farrukh Habib's statement came at a time when the Election Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) foreign funding case today. The scrutiny committee had submitted its report to the commission on November 26. A scrutiny committee was probing political party finance, according to the Minister of State, and PTI had produced a list of more than 40,000 contributors, as each party was expected to provide its financial record.

"The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has created a plan for collecting political donations. It is the only party that does not take funding from any group with special interests. We get most of our funding from overseas Pakistanis," he said. Every one of our accounts is before the Election Commission. He said that the financial affairs of every political party should come to the notice of the people. He also said that his party was preparing a report on the concealment of accounts by PML-N and PPP.

Farrukh Habib alleged that the PML-N had provided records of only two accounts and had no record of 98% of their funds. They had laundered illicit money through secret accounts. He demanded that the Election Commission hear the funding case of the three parties on a daily basis. He also said that PTI is the only party that has full transparency in the management of its funds.

He quoted former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's book as alleging that Nawaz Sharif had received 10 million dollars from Osama bin Laden in the 1990s to launch a no-confidence motion against Benazir Bhutto's government.

He said that PML-N was trying to hide behind legal complications and was saying that this law does not apply to cases older than 5 years.
