Muhammad Hafeez announces Retirement from International Cricket


After an 18-year career in international cricket, Muhammad Hafeez, the former Pakistan captain, and senior all-rounder has announced his retirement.

During a press conference in Lahore, he said that he did not regret his decision and was completely satisfied.

He further said that he always tried to hoist the flag of Pakistan and tried to play sports with dignity. Muhammad Hafeez said that he started the best journey of his life 18 years ago but he will continue playing league cricket and will continue playing league cricket as long as he is fit. All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez thanked his parents and said that they had the full support of their parents in all walks of life and were always honored by the fans while playing international cricket.

In response to a question, he said that playing for Pakistan has always been a source of pride, during which no greed was seen, similarly playing the World Cup was not a part of any greed. He said that giving the impression of being fit for the upcoming World Cup is not right.

Muhammad Hafeez termed the first match to be played for Pakistan as the most memorable moment and said that he was happy to be a part of this team when they defeated India and in the future removed the impression that Pakistan was their rival India. Can't beat

Muhammad Hafeez has retired from Test cricket on December 7, 2018. Muhammad Hafeez's career, especially in Test cricket, has been plagued by problems due to his illegal bowling action and poor form, and in recent times he has been dropped from the team from time to time.

The 41-year-old top-order batsman made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2003 and last played against Australia in the T20 World Cup semi-finals in November of last year. He has signed with Lahore Qalandar in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the next season and will be available for franchise cricket across the world.

During his 18-year career, the veteran cricketer played 55 new Tests, 218 ODIs, and 119 T20I matches and scored a total of 12,780 runs.

In the 2019 Cricket World Cup, he played his last ODI against Bangladesh at Lord's. He had earlier announced in January 2020 that the T20 World Cup would be his last international tournament for Pakistan, but the T20 World Cup was held last year due to delays due to Code 19, during which Mohammad Hafeez also joined the Pakistani team.

In an interview with the Press Trust of India in the year 2020, Rameez Raja stated that Muhammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik should immediately retire from international cricket.

He had said that there is no doubt that both the players have done a lot for Pakistan cricket but now I think it is time for them to retire honorably. In response, Mohammad Hafeez stated that he would not give up cricket at anyone's request and that he would surely compete in the T20 World Cup.

Mohammad Hafeez, who led Pakistan in the 2012 World T20, said: "It is an honor for me to be a part of the Pakistani team.

Asked about his recent performance, Hafeez said, "My statistics are in front of everyone." "It's a great honor to play in front of a home crowd, it's a lot of fun, but we've been without the support of a home crowd for many years and haven't tasted it," he said. "Winning gives confidence to any captain. Babar Azam is our captain and he is a great cricketer. We will try our best to win the team and the more the team wins, the more confidence of a new captain," he said.
