Mohammad Rizwan has been Named ICC T20's 'Cricketer of the Year'

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has selected Pakistan's wicketkeeper and opening batsman Mohammad Rizwan the 'T20 Cricketer of the Year,' or the finest T20 player in 2021.

He praised Mohammad Rizwan's great performance, describing him as "one of the top players," and expressed optimism that Rizwan would be able to enjoy his successes in 2021.

Mohammad Rizwan wrote on Twitter, in the name of the people of Pakistan, "Alhamdulillah. It is only from Allah, not from other than Allah.

He also said that he is grateful for everyone's support and kindness, and that "God willing, our road has only just begun." It may be remembered that Mohammad Rizwan is named to the best T20 team of the year by the ICC as a wicket-keeper-opener. Mohammad Rizwan's most notable year was 2021, when he represented Pakistan in 29 International Twenty20 matches, amassing 1326 runs with the aid of one century and 12 half-centuries, the most of any batsman last year. The ICC, on the other side, has named Fatima Sana, a 20-year-old Pakistani bowler, as the rising player of the year 2021.

Fatima Sana was previously named to the best women's team of the year. Fatima Sana got 20 wickets at an average of 24 in 2021, including one five-four (five wickets in a match).

The year 2021 has been the finest year for Pakistan cricket, whether in T20, ODI, or Test format. The ICC's greatest teams of the year do not appear to be complete without Pakistani players.

After captaining the ODI squad, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam will captain the ICC ODI team of the year, and three Pakistani players have been nominated for the ICC Test team of the year.

"You have proven that success can be reached even after being neglected for a long period on the basis of huge criticism and loves and dislikes," Usman wrote to Mohammad Rizwan. The way you made it to the team in difficult circumstances and now that you've won the ICC award is unquestionably an example for everyone.

Ever since the pairing of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, it has not only changed the face of the Pakistani team in T20 cricket, but these two batsmen are also setting one new world record after another individually and collectively.

The individual performance of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan is important but their friendship has also put the rival teams in trouble. The two batsmen have so far formed a five-century partnership, the most by any pair in T20 Internationals.

 

Mohammad Rizwan was first tested as an opener in the T20 series played on the tour of New Zealand in 2020 after playing 15 innings in T20 Internationals but Babar Azam was not present in the series due to a fractured thumb. The two first opened together in the T20 International against South Africa in Lahore in February last year, but interestingly, Mohammad Rizwan managed to score a century but Babar Azam went out on the second ball of the match

The first century partnership between the two was established on April 14 last year against South Africa at the Centurion T20 International where they added 197 runs for the first wicket.

In this innings, Rizwan had scored 73 runs without getting out while Babar Azam had played an innings of 122 runs.
